The Artist Behind the Canvas

I’m Cherie Suzanne, an artist with a passion for bringing stories to life through colours, lines, and creativity.

They say that the eyes are windows to the soul. I believe art is a close second. I love how art can speak in all languages without using a single word. Literally speaking in colours.

My life has been informed by so many things but the biggest is that I am a woman. Decades of my life have come and gone in seasons. A princess in a tutu, a teenager embarrassed by changing body, a young adult trying to find my voice and carve a career, then a wife & mother when my existence seemed to become about facilitating everyone else’s to now a single empty nester wondering that happened and who even am I now?

There is no way anybody can prepare you for that journey and the extreme emotional rollercoaster that comes with it.

It has made me realise how extraordinary women are. We are healers, lovers, warriors, tough, resilient and cry a LOT because we feel everything on behalf of everybody we care about. As a mother I would both kill & die to protect my children. I can run a household and everyones itineraries like a boss CEO in any boardroom. I’m a nurse, a councillor, a nutritionist, a taxi, a friend, a disciplinarian and I love to the point of exhaustion and then gratefully get up every day to do it over again.

We are the epitomy of multifaceted. I can speak both eloquently and swear like a trucker. I can be outwardly demure with a smutty inner dialogue. I like theatre & cheering loudly at a football game. I listen to everything from heavy metal to classical, I follow piloitics, current affairs and absolutely love a good rom com. I am both soft & fierce and I absolutely will not go quietly sit in a corner and while I know I’m more than capable, I still love men who open the for for me. I suppose that makes me an independent romantic.

As my art evolves I realise that this is what it represents. My predominant theme is a combination of the female form and nature representing all of these things although  I stray from that time to time. Creatives do love variety.

I also believe women need other supporting women in their lives and as such I will be your biggest cheer leader and love when people reach out.

I hope my ladies both inspire and inform women to embrace their whole selves. Not just the socially acceptable parts. I believe the world needs it.
